I have the infinite pleasure of interviewing Ms. LeUyen Pham about her latest authored/illustrated picture book Outside, Inside, as well as premiering its trailer.
She writes for children. She writes for adults. She writes and she writes and she writes. Now she has a new book out and a new trailer. I talk to Sy Montgomery about what it really takes to be a "good creature" in 2020.
Today we take a trip over to the Netherlands. Specifically, to the expressive features and brightly colored paints of Mies Van Hout. To say that some of these images glow from their pages would not be an overstatement.
If a pile of money was suddenly plopped into your lap, what would you buy? Let's say you had to spend the money on something superfluous. Something that wasn't a necessity. What would you buy? I'd buy a Little Free Library. In lieu of that, I'll do the next best thing and premiere the trailer for the upcoming book LITTLE LIBRARIES, BIG HEROES.
In author Kate Hannigan's latest novel, the author switches gears a bit with Cape. It's launching a series called "The League of Secret Heroes" and publishing with Simon & Schuster/Aladdin on August 6th. Kate was kind enough to share with me some background to the book. Becker took a seemingly simple form, the picture book, and gave it breadth and depth without sacrificing child-interest and focus. But apparently that wasn't enough of a challenge because now he's created a board book and it's a doozy of a marvel.
It’s a little crazy but do you know how hard it is to find a decent edition of Jack and the Beanstalk these days? The Galdone version is, I’m sorry, really weird and the E. Nesbit too long. Honestly, one of the best versions I’ve run across is Josh Funk’s It’s Not Jack and the […]
The book trailer. It’s a weird invention. When publishers started to create them, the librarians, booksellers, and educators sat back and tried to figure out their ultimate purpose. It’s been a little more than a decade since their emergence and I don’t think we’re any closer to determining their final purpose. I’m working on a […]
Every year in December I do this 31 Days, 31 Books series. On each day I present a different list full of the best of the year. Board Books one day. Funny picture books another. And somewhere in there I put out a list I like to call Transcendent Holiday Books. These are the books […]
