Call Your Pops! A Father’s Day Remembrance
Happy Father’s Day!
As you may well know, Christian Robinson has a new picture book out as of right now called Dad. And if you’ve seen the documentary Story and Pictures By (and really, who amongst us hasn’t?) you can see why this could be a complicated subject for Christian.
Now to celebrate this book’s release, his publisher (Macmillan) asked folks to send in images and memories of their own fathers. I happy to like my own dad very much, so I sent something in. And, lo and behold, they liked my thoughts!

So today, here’s a nice little remembrance of my dad, back in the day.
It reads:
Dad is … the one who never complains about my loud friends.
When I was young, my dad was the one who ended up driving me and my friends to everything from ballet lessons to orchestra practice. And my friends and I? We were loud. We were mighty. The man just sat there as we screeched and laughed and made a general ruckus. And he never made a single, solitary complaint. That’s my dad. A man who will patiently bear even the wildest caterwauls of 13-year-old girls.
