Fuse 8 n’ Kate: The Vanishing Pumpkin by Tony Johnson, ill. Tomie dePaola
Let the record show that I read through a slew of different Halloween-centric picture book titles before I alighted upon one that was appropriate for the season. Who knew that Tony Johnston and Tomie dePaola would be the answer to my prayers? Today we consider a book about, at its core, the difficulty of growing more than a single pumpkin in your pumpkin patch. Kate and I, failed pumpkin farmers both, can relate. In today’s podcast episode we talk Jawas, rain barrels, hairless leprechauns, and more.

Show Notes:
For those of you keeping score at home, how does Kate’s skeleton look this year? Behold and be amazed! Hank! In all his glory!!
And here’s the carved pumpkin Kate has going on this year.
You’ve enjoyed sassy suns. Now behold, a Sneaky Sun.
This may be a story about a 700-year-old woman and an 800-year-old man, but they still make good old-fashioned use out of their rain barrel.
“Ghoul” or hairless leprechaun? You be the judge.
As Kate says, this, my friends, is clearly a Jawa with a mushroom.
