Cover Reveal: Finchosaurus by Gail Donovan
Folks, I’ve been doing this whole blogging thing for a long time. And now that I’ve just turned 40, I give myself permission to start acting in a true “kids today” and “get off my lawn” manner. I also get to dip deep into nostalgia, given half a chance. Now almost ten years ago I read a really fun little chapter book going by the name of In Memory of Gorfman T Frog by Gail Donovan. I liked it so much, in fact, that I helped get it on New York Public Library’s annual 100 Books for Reading and Sharing list, which ain’t small potatoes.
Time passes. Things change. And then I get an email from Gail. Would I have any interest in revealing her newest novel, which is coming out in October from Islandport Press?

The fact of the matter is, folks, that I don’t actually agree to all the cover reveal offers I receive. I like to have a hook when I reveal a book. But fortunately in this case, I remember well Gofman T. Frog (which could stand a reprint and some new art, Dutton). And so in memory of In Memory of Gorfman T. Frog, here is Gail’s latest book. If it’s anything like the last, it’s worth discovering.
FINCHOSAURUS follows the adventures of Atticus Finch Martin, otherwise known as Finch. Finch’s dream is to uncover a dinosaur fossil and name a new species after himself—until he digs up a note in the fifth-grade class garden with the word HELP on it. He is determined to come to the aid of the mystery note-writer. But when the quest turns out to be harder than expected, Finch risks losing two things that he really wants—his best friend Noah, and a field trip to Dinosaur State Park.

Our library system still has copies of Gorfman T. Frog. I’ll have to find one. BTW, wait until you’re in your middle 60’s before claiming serious rights to geezer statements. You’ve got a good 10 years until you can tell your kids to “turn that noise down.” but notify immediatley the first time you hear yourself say, “When I was a kid…” It’ll come sooner than you think!
Awww. But I wanna be a geezer now!
