Mock Caldecott, Newbery, and Printz Round-up: Part Two
How cool is this? Check out this email I received from the esteemed author Jim Averbeck:
I read your post yesterday where you gave a summary of the Mock Newbery and Caldecott lists out there. And I got to the comment where it seemed like trying to update your list with all the mocks would be a huge pain.
This awoke the techno-geek in me. I thought “there has got to be some sort of wiki-spreadsheet-thingy that can be used to allow a lot of people to add other mock lists and which will update the totals tally automatically and enable the work to be spread arond. So I played around with it today and came up with a little site where people can do just that. Here is the URL: http://sites.google.com/site/inablueroom/HomeAnyway, the whole thing is based on a google shared spreadsheet which I have opened for public editing. This way, if someone wants to add a mock list from a particular library system/bookstore/entity they can. If you decide this might be useful to point folks toward, please give me a little warning so I can do some final testing/proofing.

Looks like people are starting to fill in the spreadsheets. I am happy to report they are actually working as planned. The Caldecott sheet had a minor issue (it wasn’t totaling any new titles added) but it was a simple error on my part when I set it up and it is now fixed.
Of course, the roundups are only as comprehensive as the people who participate make them, so hopefully folks will come on over and fill in the colmn for their mock lists.
