The American Library Association Conference 2008: Conventional Wisdom (haha!)
Things are going well! I’m snatching blogging time whenever I can. Here’s the latest from the convention hall itself. Feel free to tell me what you want to see. I’m all over the map today, but I want to hear suggestions.

Hey, instead of sitting around feeling left out on the right/wrong coast, I’m going to ALA 2008 after all! Thanks, and keep vlogging, Betsy. One suggestion — why not go Bollywood-esque with song and dance in one segment? I’ve see you master the genre already, so excuses.
Tell you what… when I meet with the other bloggers today I’ll propose it to them. Of course, if they for some reason don’t want to dance I’ll have to find myself a Plan B.
Funny! I enjoyed that a lot. Thanks, Betsy.
Okay, you are hilarious. Did you edit that down on the spot? Mad-crazy-video-skillz. I myself cannot figure out how to turn on the camera my in-laws gave me a year ago…
Well, I for one have always wondered if my publishers even show my books when I am not around. So a quick pan at, say, the Philomel booth, or Charlesbridge, or Harper or Key Porter or HandPrint/ Chronicle would be a plus for me. I have always suspected that they hide them when they know I am not coming.
On second thought, maybe I don’t really want to know!
But a musical a la Buffy? That would be kewl.

Hm. I did pan, but I completely missed everyone you mentioned, with the exception of Harper. Looks like something for Monday . . .
This is definitely your theme music Betsy.

It’s called JUNE GLOOM and its cloudy almost every morning in June in LA. Sorry, you don’t have that power.
June Gloom? Someone write a children’s book with THAT name! I would review that book.
Where did you get that awesome 60’s appliance commercial music? Who’s the artist?
You know where? From The Simpsons. Do you happen to remember The Land of Chocolate dream sequence? I need to find more just like that. If you’ve any suggestions, I’d love to hear ’em.
