I’m voting for A Crooked Kind of Perfect by Linda Urban.
AM says
I concur with Moyergirl.
Paige Y. says
My vote is for Feathers. I know you’ve said you don’t know quite what to think about it, but since it’s been named as a possibility for the Newbery, I’m curious about it.

Some of the children’s librarians of NYPL might start a bookgroup to just discuss titles. If so, the first one we’ll be talking about will be “Feathers”. Once I’ve heard a variety of opinions, maybe that’ll solidify my own. “A Crooked Kind of Perfect” was marvelous wasn’t it? What an apt title.

I’m curious about The Professor’s Daughter and Tom Truehart.
And I liked Feathers.

I loved Feathers. Also on my reviewing list (so I want to see how you prioritize them so I can follow suit):
Leepike Ridge, Elissa’s Quest, The Nixie Song, The BOok of Lies, Middle School is Worse than Meatloaf and The Year of the Rat.

I loved A Crooked Kind of Perfect – what did you think? I also vote for Grace Lin’s latest.

Very nice. I’m seeing real love/curiosity for “A Crooked Kind of Perfect” and “Leepike Ridge”.

I’ll put in a lonely vote for Grace Lin’s The Year of the Rat.

A Crooked Kind of Perfect, please!

I’m in the midst of doing an interview with Linda Urban, who wrote A Crooked Kind of Perfect, so I’m partial to that title at the moment. I’d also love to hear your thoughts on The Professor’s Daughter, which I reviewed at Writing and Ruminating not long ago, and I’d like to hear more about Year of the Rat, since I so enjoyed Lin’s Year of the Dog.

Oh, please do review Middle School is Worse Than Meatloaf by Jennifer Holm. I just love the title and can’t wait to read it myself. (besides — two time Newbery honor author!)
and — oh no, do you only review fiction? I just asked my publisher to send you my latest nonfiction. darn.

Ah. You caught me out. I definitely review non-fiction as well. I’ve just been lazy and haven’t done any lately. Good call. I’ll have to up my non-fiction titles from here on in.

I would like to know your thoughts about Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat.
Kim says
A Crooked Kind of Perfect deserves all the good attention it should get.
a reader says
Elissa’s Quest deserves a review. It’s not getting much attention from the world at large and it’s a great read.
Dot says
I vote for a Crooked Kind of Perfect….just love the title
Fuse #8 says
Good news on that one. I posted a review of the book on August 23rd.
