This just means that I’ve some reading to do.  You simply can’t attend a kidlitosphere conference without reading the books of the people attending.  Those of you who are interested in coming as well, the children’s literary blog conference takes place on October 6th at the Radisson Hotel Chicago O’Hare.  For futher information, consult with Ms. Robin Brande who has actually taken the time to organize this massive collective.  And hey!  Where the heck is Esme Codell?  Shouldn’t one of Chicago’s most prominent kidlitters appear at this thing?  Somebody go let her know pronto.  Oo!  And let’s all take a field trip to her Bookroom.  Just a thought.

More details to follow.

So very, very glad that you’re coming Fusie. It wouldn’t feel right without you. We also have to go knocking on the door of Bookshelves of Doom. Though having the mention of the conference here at SLJ will certainly help the cause.

Ah, and Esme isn’t the only talented kids’ writer who lives in Chicago. You should also put out the call to Amy Timberlake (The Dirty Cowboy, That Girl Lucy Moon), Laura Ruby (Lily’s Ghosts, The Wall and the Wing), Blue Balliet (Chasing Vermeer, The Wright Three), Amy Krouse Rosenthal (Little Pea, The OK Book), and Franny Billingsley (Well Wished, The Folk Keeper) among many others.

I can’t wait! I’ve already lined up a babysitter (who doubles as my husband). I finally get to go to a conference. Wow. It’s not BEA, but wow.

  6. Esme says

    July 16, 2007 at 8:30 pm

Eeeek! I was out of the loop on this one, thanks for shouting out! I think I may have a travel commitment on that weekend, but I’m checking on it! If I am around, I would LOVE to host some big fun here in Chicago, the Paris of the Midwest.

  7. Renee says

Argh!!! I can’t go!! It sounds like so much fun, but I have to work a conference in Northern California that weekend. Bah.

Woo-hoo to Esme and boo-hoo to Renee.

    Huh. That rhymes.

In any case, Renee you have my permission to bop the crazy loons who are hosting said conference over the noggin soundly. Then, having bopped, do come and join us.

And, Esme, something must occur. I am thrilled that you may be around. Confirm pronto, if you can.

  9. Disco Mermaid says

Beyond jealous, that’s what I am.

But at least I can be fairly sure that the details of the event will be well-blogged about.
