One does not normally associate vampires with the Sydney Taylor Award, but then one does not usually have the magnificent Deke Moulton on hand. When contacted by the Sydney Taylor Award Book Blog Tour organizers about hosting someone on my site, I had only one request: I want Deke Moulton. Don’t Want to Be Your […]

Sydney Taylor Blog Tour: Talking With Andrew Maraniss About Games of Deception

Each year, the winners of the Sydney Taylor are "sent", as it were, on blog tours. Blog Tour: Sticks ‘n’ Stones ‘n’ Dinosaur Bones

November 7, 2017 by Betsy Bird

All right, folks. I don’t usually do straight up blog tours and the reasoning for this is simple. There are a fair number of them out there and how do you choose which ones to feature? But today’s book is kind of special. As you may know, I’ve a soft spot in my heart for […]

Monster Mash: Aaron Zenz Goes On Tour

August 22, 2016 by Betsy Bird

Blog tours.  Generally speaking I don’t really do them.  Nothing against them personally, they just don’t always speak to the tenor and distinctive tone of individual blogs.  It takes a particularly keen one to get me out of my hidey-hole so that I’ll participate.  It takes, in short, Aaron Zenz. But first . . . […]

Interview Time! John Patrick Green in Conversation with Eric Colossal

May 5, 2016 by Betsy Bird

Who? What? Where? When? Why? It’s a blog tour, kiddos!  A tour of bloggy goodness.  More than that, it’s a graphic novel blog tour done to celebrate Children’s Book Week in all its fancypants glory. The subject of today’s interview is none other than Eric Colossal.  Colossal, if the name is new to you, is […]

The Circus Mirandus Blog Tour: How Hard Is It to Write a Circus That Isn’t Creepy?

June 10, 2015 by Betsy Bird

When I was asked to participate in the current Circus Mirandus Blog Tour, I was intrigued.  You know how sometimes a publisher will fall in love with a debut novel and then promote the whozitz out of it, hither, thither, and yon?  Well, that’s what Penguin has done with this title from first time author […]

Blog Tour Stop: Children’s Literary Podcasting Loves a Winner

December 1, 2014 by Betsy Bird

On April 19th of this past year I hosted a Children’s Literary Salon at NYPL called Podcasting Children’s Books: Ins and Outs, Ups and Downs. Unlike a lot of my Salons, this one was actually recorded and turned into a podcast here.  Why am I telling you all this?  Because that podcaster, one Matthew Winner, […]
