Fuse 8 n’ Kate: Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney with Special Guest Stars Berol and Cordelia Dewdney
It’s the 20th anniversary of the publication of Llama Llama Red Pajama, and you know how we’ve chosen to celebrate? With none other than Anna Dewdney’s own daughters, that’s how! Berol and Cordelia Dewdney join us as we explore a Llama Llama book for the very first time.
Listen to the whole show here on Soundcloud or download it through iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Play, PlayerFM, Audible, Amazon Music, or your preferred method of podcast selection.
Show Notes:
Prior to reading this book, Kate knew this book because celebrities like Ludicris like to rap it. But the thing is, it became a WHOLE THING for rappers to do this book, so if you go on YouTube you can find a WIDE array of styles. It’s honestly one of my favorite rabbit holes I went down today. Here’s the Ludicris, tho:

The excavator book I allude to in the book that Anna Dewdney did that I liked so much was Little Excavator:
This stuffie… he’s seen things, man.
This is Kate’s favorite image in the whole book: Llama Llama at his most scared. Here’s a question, is the landline phone in this book classic on purpose? Weren’t such phones already outdated in 2005?
Llama eyelashes, man. Incredibly difficult to resist.
By gum, here’s the Talky Tina moment of the book. That stuffie is smiling now!!!
This is the other mama and llama book that I think of when we pair those words together.
Kate Recommends: Monsters, Inc.
Betsy Recommends: White Lotus (particularly the acting of the kid from her book group 20 years ago, Fred Hechinger)
