Mr. Watson’s Chickens: A Highly Illustrated Back and Forth Interview Between Jarrett Dapier and Andrea Tsurumi

September 29, 2021 by Betsy Bird   Leave a Comment

It is standard operating practice to include, with every chicken-related post, an obligatory cartoon.

Not really. But wouldn’t it be a good idea?

Folks, there are lots of ways to promote your new book when it’s just coming out. You can make book trailers or hold huge release parties or celebrate its “book birthday” with balloons. Heck, you could do all three of those things at the same time, and none of that would hold a candle to the remarkable cacophony of chaos found in Jarrett Dapier and Andrea Tsurumi’s marvelous Mr. Watson’s Chickens.

Now Andrea’s talked about her books on this blog before, and she has a method I find pretty neat. Essentially, as the book’s illustrator she will engage the book’s author in conversation. She will then put it all together in this marvelous, complex, witty and highly illustrated sequence. And behold! Such a day has come today!!

Great oodles of thanks to Jarrett and Andrea for appearing here today! Mr. Watson’s Chickens is on bookstore and library shelves everywhere October 5th. And just for fun, be sure to check out Andrea’s preview illustrated interviews for the books Not Your Nest and Sharko and Hippo.
