Radio Silence Explained: It’s J.K. Rowling’s Fault
In brief – I was a matron of honor at my sister’s wedding and then, after I returned to New York, I met J.K. Rowling.
You want proof?
Fuzzy lady with brown hair on the left is me. Fuzzy lady with the blond hair on the right is Ms. Rowling. And so you may have to forgive my inability to make coherent words for a day or so. I be floored. A million thanks to Dan Blank for the opportunity and the photo itself!

I like the guy behind her who is going to kick your a** if you get too exuberant.
Thank you so much for joining us last night Betsy! You made an already incredible event even better!

Oh, wow! I would still be orbital myself.
So exciting! I got to meet her when she did her very first book signing in NYC at Books of Wonder–I think it was for the second Harry Potter book (well organized event, Books of Wonder!). We chatted for a moment while she signed my book, and she was lovely. She said that she wrote everything longhand and we bemoaned the dangers of writer’s cramp! Alas, no pictures. But I’ve still got the book.
Wows!
