My New Job

November 15, 2011 by Betsy Bird   49 comments

So.  Big time news over here.  Remember how I’ve been a librarian with the Children’s Center at 42nd Street (formerly the Central Children’s Room) for roundabout five years now?  Well it finally happened.  I got a new job.

I kid you not.  You are now looking at the Youth Materials Specialist and Supervising Librarian of New York Public Library.  Basically, it’s the job I’ve wanted steadily since I realized it existed.

Here is the deal then.  I’m still working in the main branch.  I’m still going to blog as per usual.  I’m still gonna review and snark, sometimes both at the same time.  Only now I won’t be the gal you can drop in on as much.  Feel like seeing the Children’s Center?  That’s swell but don’t expect to see me on the desk there any longer.

I’m moving (two floors) up in the world.  WOOT!  Time to party down, party people!

Thanks, everyone! My dream job it is indeed. And don’t worry, oh ye folks who wanted to see me do a storytime. Until they hire another children’s librarian I’m going to help the room out when I can. So you never know. You might stumble on me yet.

Yes, 2011 has been good “berry, berry” good to you. I have harbored thoughts of sauntering in the Children’s Room at 5th Avenue to meet you; it’s good to hear that you will still be there.

    Best wishes for continued success,
