Kidlit Drink Night: January Prediction/Book Drop
Don’t try to resist. You know you want to attend.
Because the ALA awards will be a scant five days away, we’ll have a Newbery/Caldecott/Printz prediction contest with FABULOUS PRIZES — to be determined, but we promise they’ll be worthy of the all-caps. And we’ll be collecting kids’ and YA books for Project Cicero , "an annual non-profit book drive designed to create — or supplement — school and classroom libraries for children in under-resourced New York City public schools." So gather your guesses and your extra books and join us on Wednesday the 13th!
(And if you’d like to be on our e-mail list for future events, shoot us a message at nyckidlitdrinks at gmail dot com.)

Back in March, you had very nice things to say about “Tsunami!” by Kimiko Kajikawa and Ed Young — I hope it does well in the prediction contest! It’s a gorgeous book, a great story, and really deserves an award. I wish we could see more folk tales for young children in books like this! Having recently discovered this book while shopping for nieces and nephews, I was VERY moved by it, and thought it was just a great, great gift for young children. I’m going to vote for it in all the online mock Caldecotts.
Any chance of an ALA drink night besides the Twitter meet up?
Hrm. Good question. The problem with out o’ town nights is that I need a local contact to help coordinate. I was sort of leaving it to the Twitter meet up. But I’ll mull it over. So far my Monday night seems free…
