Press Release: Kidsmomo

September 28, 2009 by Betsy Bird   1 comments

At the last Kidlit Drink Night I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy Tsai and Karen Wang and hearing about a new site they’ve recently created for child readers.  Kidsmomo.com is engaging, enticing, and amusing by turns.  It has videos, and podcasts, and book reviews, and (of course) a blog.  Here’s what the creators have to say for themselves.

About Kidsmomo.com
Our mission is to keep kids engaged in reading for pleasure by introducing them to quality books and series, highlighting the sheer variety of reading choices available, and presenting books and reading in a non-academic mode. Basically, we’re curating book info in a way that’s fresh and fun for kids. We’ve got:

    * Weekly themes — such as books about dogs, funny books, fantasy series, and globe-trotting adventures
    * Weekly podcasts featuring our book recommendations
    * Kid-submitted book reviews, with peer commenting and rating
    * A joint blog, which we update regularly with news and commentary about the world of children’s books.

For more about Kidsmomo, visit us online:

http://www.kidsmomo.com/mission-and-founders

As we get Kidsmomo off the ground, please feel free to share the site with any kids roughly ages 8-13 who you think might like to participate. Our site is completely open to the public, and there is no registration required. You can use the "Contact Us" form on the site to send us any feedback about Kidsmomo. We’ll read everything that’s submitted!

And I have to say, I very much enjoyed this particular little video they had up on the site.

Thanks so much for the mention, Betsy! (Nancy and I exchanged several “OMG” emails and texts today when we realized we’d become famous!) We’ve already gotten some wonderful feedback from folks who found Kidsmomo through Fuse #8, and we welcome more. So excited to join the kidlit family!
