Kidlit Drink Night!

September 1, 2009 by Betsy Bird   9 comments

When: Monday, September 21, 6-10 p.m.

Where: Houndstooth Pub, 520 8th Ave. @ 37th St. – probably downstairs

This location is rapidly becoming my favorite Kidlit Drink Night location, due to the massive downstairs area, bar in the room, drink selection, copious seating and the fact that they don’t blast the music.  We were there for BEA too.

Agents, editors, librarians, writers, teacher, readers, and "others", please come.  If you’ve not been to one before, now would be a great time to start.

In other news, Cheryl Klein had the great idea of having an e-mail list for future Kidlit Drink Nights.  She’s even gone so far as to set one up. As she says, "Send a message to nyckidlitdrinks at gmail dot com, and we will let you know of all future events as soon as they’re announced, with reminders on the day before or day of as well. My thanks to editor and former Scholastic colleague Greg Holch for this good idea."

Sorry, darlin’, I’m going to have to sit this one out. I’ll miss you!

We’ll lift a glass in your name anyway.

Huzzah! I will hopefully have a handful of Library school students in tow. (Let’s get them while they’re young and innocent!)

In Boston, we’re tired of being jealous of this kind of fun, so we are going to have a Kid Lit Pie Night from 5-8 (note Puritan-appropriate early start and ending times) the same night as you, 9/21.

Details forthcoming, but it’s going to be right near the Newton Centre T-shop at Pie Bakery and Cafe:

    http://www.piebakeryandcafe.com

rsvp to mitaliperk@yahoo.com so we can see how many might be interested, and which power brokers we will lure to our event to compete with the likes of Fuse and Ms. Klein.

It is on! And just to up the ante, I’m half tempted to bring a pie in your honor to the Kidlit Drink Night. Ho ho!

Great! We’ll toast you with cappuccino! Our time has changed, and we’re starting the same time as you, so we’ll be chowing on pie and chatting kids books from 6-8 p.m. Will be posting twitpics so we can be in solidarity.

Twitpics it is. Though I’ll have to employ someone to do this who doesn’t have a phone circa 1999 in their pocket.

CO-organizing! Cheryl does all the work. Everyone should have a Cheryl.
