My Husband, the Superman

August 13, 2009 by Betsy Bird   72 comments

Surprising as it may be to hear, I actually don’t tend to divulge much personal information on this blog.  So when my husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the beginning of this year, I decided not to make an announcement.  It’s been a tough nine months since then, but yesterday we received the official word.  Matt is now 100% cancer free.  And that is information I don’t mind telling anyone.

This is turning out to be a very good week.

This is Superman’s mother. Let me join all of you bloggers in joyous praise of Betsy. Through 6 months of strenuous chemo for Matt she has fulfilled all of her ordinary obligations and taken on lots of extra ones besides, with never a single word of complaint, ever. She loves Matt. He loves her. We love her. She loves us. Yay, yay, and yay. –Christine Bird
