Happy Birthday to Me

April 23, 2009 by Betsy Bird   9 comments

If you watch this, I encourage you to make it past the early butt joke. Trust me, it picks up after that. What this has to do with birthdays, I haven’t a clue, but if you search for this video online it’s called Birthday Greetings from Joe Cocker and it is one of my favorite things of all time.

Thanks to Gregory K for the link.

So, yup. I turn 31 today.  I am celebrating by taking the week off to blog and stuff. Because that’s how we 31-year-olds roll.

This second video comes from Big A little a where Kelly Herold wrote, "I chose Пусть бегут неуклюже…a song from Cheburashka, one of Russia’s most-loved cartoons. This song serves for many Russian speakers as a birthday song. "  It never really occurred to me that the Happy Birthday Song changes from country to country.  Now THERE’S a children’s music CD in the making.  Collect all the birthday songs from different languages and put them together.  I would buy that.

Happy birthday greetings too to my fellow April 23rder Jill Davis.  Ditto Shakespeare, Nabokov, Shirley Temple Black, and former President Buchanan.

Happy Birthday! I feel like maybe last year I realized we share a birthday (along with William Shakespeare and Shirley Temple). Go Tauruses! Or is it Tauri?
    Anyway, enjoy your day!
