Christmas Post: A Kooky Conglomeration of Holiday Cheer

• First off, I’ve started getting hooked on Sam Riddleburger’s webcomics.  I’m not sure why, but my brain naturally takes to his strange immoveable characters.  The series "Frank, the translator elf who wasn’t any good" will bring a snort to your nose.  This one was one of my favorites

• Over at Crooked House we see what happens when you combine

A) a small child and
B) the weirdest creche in existence… the Little People Nativity Set.
The result?  A post with the title Silent Night Wiolent Night.

• Speaking of things that aren’t your average everyday Christmas fare few are quite as weird as the post on Vintage Kids’ Books My Kid Loves about the book Grandpa’s Witched Up Christmas by James Flora.  As the post says, "I mean, what other book will you literally see Santa Claus kick booty (another delightful playground euphemism)… giving a firm strangle hold to the witch who almost makes a wee Grandpa miss Christmas?"  Thanks to Children’s Illustration for the link.

• I was unaware of the site Indexed until very recently.  Creator Jessica Hagy has a fine appreciation for a good Venn diagram or two.  There have been quite a few that were Christmas inspired recently as well.  Behold:

• Cartoonist and illustrator Roy Doty wipes the floor with the competition when it comes to Christmas cards.  I kid you not.  The man’s freelance and after getting a taste of what he’s capable of I’m certainly glad no one is making him do these.  Here’s a taste:

• There are a couple children’s book illustrators that will provide you with holiday versions of their various characters.  So while I could see the Knuffle Bunny version I found myself pretty much blindsided by the alien.

• When J.K. Rowling wrapped up her Harry Potter series there was one question still floating about in my brain: Why did Harry have so much money left to him?  Now, at long last, Alison Morris has found the answer and it’s Christmas related.

• Along the same lines, author James Preller has discovered someone who may indeed be Santa Claus’s long lost twin.

• And just so you don’t think I’m entirely one-holiday minded, author Alan Silberberg offers you Hanukkah greetings via his latke.

• And finally, it’s the YouTube video is called Cute Animal Christmas Song. I think I’m going to have to side with Leila, though, and call it Film to Scar One for Life instead but it’s still cheery.
