Who Likes to Rock the Party? Librarians Like to Rock the Party.
Desk Set, the New York librarian social group, conducted a Trivia Night this past Thursday at the lovely bar Black Rabbit in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They allowed me to read off the questions in the Children’s & Young Adult Literature category. It included queries about which novel contains the first line "It was a dark and stormy night" and what the "E" in "E.L. Konigsburg" stands for (do YOU know?). The bar provided free absinthe shots for bonus questions, there were at least three NYPL children’s librarians present (boo-yah!) that I knew of, and everyone seemed to have a great time.
A big thank you to the Desk Setters who invited me along. Also thanks to our M.C. of the evening, Cadillac French, shown here.

A wrinkle in time…. And I did not have to use the Internet either.
Elaine Konigsberg.
And you beat me to “Wrinkle in Time.”
Jane
Jane beat me to Elaine; but “It was a dark and stormy night” is originally the first line of a novel by Bulwer-Lytton, though I don’t know which one, as well as of every novel Snoopy ever starts.
