Wait… Gas Prices Are What Now?

July 16, 2008 by Betsy Bird   3 comments

Okay kids, I’m off to Stratford, Ontario for the Shakespeare Festival.  While I’m gone I made up a list of chores for you to get done while I’m gone.  Now don’t go putting them all off until I get back on Monday.  I mean it now.

To Do/Not To Do

  • No interesting debates while I’m gone.  Authors and illustrators, that goes mostly for you.  I don’t want to come back and find that Tomie dePaola challenged Chris Van Allsburg to a death match or anything.  Everyone stay quiet, staid, and boring for the next few days.

  • No interesting comments on my blog.  The robots have stopped commenting for quite a while now, so that just leaves you humans.  I’ve created a post for every day this week but if you want to take me to task over them you’ll just have to wait until I get back.  I won’t be monitoring from afar.  As much as I want to.

  • Everybody pay attention to the other blogs on the 20th.  Colleen Mondor at Chasing Ray had a really good idea for that particular day.  I won’t be around then, so visit her on the 20th for more details.

  • Cupcakes can be placed on my work desk for Tuesday morning.  Chocolate is preferred, though I will sometimes accept vanilla if needs be.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.  While I’m gone my posts will be random odd little thoughts and reviews on various subjects.  Enjoy!

Except that you didn’t spell dePaola correctly.

    Sigh.

A Canadian Shakespeare festival? Is that the one that inspired the amazing “Slings & Arrows?”

Regarding dePaola, I think it utterly unfair that when I had successfully navigated the trecherous waters of the lowercase “de” and perfected the positioning of the “a” and the “o” (which my instincts told me to switch) I STILL managed to upset the end of the name with a logical “o” rather than that upstart “a” I now see. Just the same, it has been corrected. And yes indeed, Sam, that is the SAME festival itself. In fact, you can see many a “Slings & Arrows” actor performing while there. For example, I saw a production of “All’s Well That Ends Well” that contained the fellow who plays the ghost on S&A. Good stuff.
