Kidlit Drink Night – Early May New York Edition
Some of you have been asking, "Hey, Betsy! Are you going to do a Kidlit Drink Night when you’re in Seattle for the SCBWI Regional Conference?" And the answer is a definite yes yes yes . . . . as soon as I secure a place to do it in. Did you know that in Seattle they expect you to pay for rooms? In New York you can call up the swankiest bar in town and get it for free, but Seattle expects a whopping $280 for their troubles. I am a humble librarian. I do not carry around that kind of cash. So until I find a good place there is ANOTHER Kidlit Drink Night to tell you about, and it’s here in New York.
For the first time ever an author wondered if I might consider doing a Kidlit Drink Night in tandem with a book release party. My answer was: Maybe. Then the mention of retiring to the rather lovely Le Monde right by my home sealed the deal. Here then is the invite!

You’re invited to the book launch party for The Curse of Addy McMahon by Katie Davis on May 1 from 5-7 pm at Bank Street Bookstore at 112th and B’way, NYC. At 7pm, we continue the party at Le Monde, a half block up the street. If you can’t make it, click here to pre-order or call (212.678.1654) and Katie will personalize and sign it and the store can then ship it to you.

Are you looking for a watering hole near the conference site, or in Seattle proper? The difference is about 10 miles and a lake.

Near the conference, I do believe. We may just have to take over a bar rather than getting a room. *sigh* I’m still looking, though. Haven’t given up hope yet. One manager was pleasantly bemused by the idea of someone reserving a room for free. I guess New York’s just some odd bastion of free stuff.

I don’t know of any good bars in Bellevue. I wish it were in Seattle proper! Not that I’d recommend everyone schlep across the water for a bar. (Of course, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing if it comes together!)
