Video Sunday – Videos That Have Nothing to do with Easter Edition

March 23, 2008 by Betsy Bird   2 comments

For no reason whatsoever I felt inclined today to repost this video I showed on my blog at least a year and a half ago. This is a 14-year-old kid who, according to the video’s profile, wrote, directed, and starred in this film. In an odd kind of way, I believe it.

Tired of doofuses like me being the only people who get to see Pooh bear? Well, now you can too! The library has posted online its press conference where it announced its 100 million dollar donation. Pooh is seen rubbing shoulders with such luminaries as Toni Morrison, Mayor Bloomberg, Christine Quinn (my councilwoman and the lady responsible for 50% of the good things I’ve witnessed at NYPL) and others. Unfortunately you can’t seem to fast forward this video and Pooh doesn’t appear until at least halfway in. That means having to listen to people like Ms. Morrison. I know, I know. It’s a tough life. Anywho, you can see it all here if you like.

This next one may be of particular use to those of you in library school or anyone who has ever conducted a storytime for toddlers or preschoolers. The Webster Public Library has started filming its resident guitarmeister Jason as he does various songs. You can see all of them here, actually. For those of you looking for new material, Jason’s a pretty good guide. I’ll show the video here of him performing Bingo, if only because I too have found that you have to explain the rules to this song every time you do it. There will always be people who sing B-I-N-G-O every single time and never get it. Maybe the guitar helps with this problem. Thanks to Adrienne for the link.

Book reports have come a long way, baby. Check out this one some girls did for the book Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Thanks to the author herself for the link.

And that is all!

Have you seen that kid’s other videos? He’s got a lot of them on You Tube, each as nicely done as the one posted here. It makes me hopeful to see kids generating their own material like this, and not just making another shot-for-shot remake of “Lazy Sunday,” but with Star Wars costumes.

You know, it never popped into my head to check out his oeuvre. As for “Lazy Sunday”, I think the only step below kids reenacting it would be parents MAKING their kids reenact it. *shudder* Shoot. Now I want cupcakes.
