Did any of you read The Invention of Hugo Cabret and find yourselves wondering if you’d ever get a chance to see some of the great works of Georges Melies? Well, I am pleased to report that a major piece of scholarship has gone down. The New York Times recently reviewed a new box set called Georges Melies: First Wizard of Cinema. It contains a whopping 170 titles on a five-disc set culled from eight countries and looks mighty nice. I like to imagine that there will be some kids out there who show an interest in him as well. Here’s hoping.
- I always suspected this:

Oh my goodness gracious me! Did you know that there’s an exhibition of Carl Barks artwork on display at Geppi’s Entertainment Museum in Baltimore? Carl Barks was the man behind the Uncle Scrooge comics, reprinted beautifully during my youth and widely considered to be pretty hotsy totsy work. The show is called "Scrooged" and those of you in the area should definitely think about going if you get a chance. Thanks ever so to Kids’ Comics for the link.
