Shouting the Outs
Thanks to everyone who showed up for my panel discussion at the NCTE Conference this past Saturday with my co-worker Warren. I was speaking on the topic of children’s books that span categories and genres in such a way that renders them almost entirely unable to win big awards. In attendance were Jen Robinson of Jen Robinson’s Book Page, Liz Burns of Tea Cozy, Susan Thomson of Chicken Spaghetti, and Mary Lee Hahn of A Year in Reading. They were having their own talk on children’s literary blogs, which I was unable to attend since I was technically "working" and had to go attend to my library after my talk. In any case, thanks for coming, guys!

Fuse, you and Warren were great! I learned a lot, and heard about at least one Christmas present for Jr. in your talk. Gracias.
You guys were great! And as you talked about each book, my reaction was not just “I must read that book” but “that’s a classic, I must own it.”
Well I just felt bad that I couldn’t reciprocate and watch you guys speak as well. That’s what I get for working on a Saturday, I guess. I hope it went swimmingly! And thanks again for coming to watch me.
It was great to see you again, Betsy. You convinced me to check out several of those books, and to freely recommend them to people even before I have a chance to read them myself. Thanks!!
