Snazzy.

Do come.  We have a place reserved and everything.  And if you’re not doing anything earlier in the day, I received this flyer to advertise my speaking gig.  Again, I’d love to see you:

Elizabeth Bird to Speak at National Convention

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Bird will be speaking at the 2007 NCTE Annual Convention.

Bird, of Donnell Library, New York, New York, will be presenting during the panel session, "THE CREAM OF THE CROP: FINDING THE BEST BOOKS AND ALBUMS FOR YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN." An excerpt from the description of this session in the Convention Program reads:

Thousands of picture book titles flood the bookseller market every year, making it difficult for teachers to pick out the best of the best. And music? If you’re willing to look hard there are amazing albums being put out for kids all the time from cool new artists and singers. It can be difficult and time-consuming to sort through it all, so why not let two of the children’s librarians of the New York Public Library’s Central Children’s Room do it for you instead? Warren Truitt, creator of the Kids Music That Rocks blog and Elizabeth Bird of the blog A Fuse #8 Production present the coolest CD and picture book hits of the 2007 year.

The session will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2007.

Each year, the NCTE Annual Convention draws thousands of K-12 teachers, college faculty, administrators, and other educational professionals from around the world. They gather to hear award-winning speakers, attend idea-packed sessions, share best practices, participate in workshops, and test the latest teaching materials. The 2007 NCTE Annual Convention will be held November 15-20, in New York, New York.

For more information, or to register for the Convention, visit http://www.ncte.org/profdev/conv/annual.
