Blog From a Children’s Book Editorial Intern
This one deserves its own entry, I think.
There are a couple facts that you should know at this time. First of all, there is no bathroom in the Teen Central portion of the Donnell Library. And though it is not encouraged, some teens have figured out that it’s much faster to use the children’s bathrooms on the second floor then traverse all the way down to the first. That means that we get a fair amount of teen foot traffic in the children’s room, next to the Reference Desk, every day. Some teens are annoying and some are nice, and amongst the nice ones was a fellow who wanted to become an Editorial Intern. He was such a nice guy that I gave him Cheryl Klein’s remarkable advice on how to break into publishing and printed it off for him.
Well lo and behold the boy made good. He got a fantastic internship for the summer and has even created his own rather fascinating blog called Kansen68: Future Editor…or Something Like It. He’s a smart pookie. There are just two posts up at the moment but I’ve high hopes for the boy. He’s going places (particularly as this is the first children’s editorial intern blog I’ve ever seen or heard of).
